WWE.com reports that SmackDown! Superstar Christian has quit World Wrestling Entertainment.

According to wrestling writer Dave Meltzer, Christian was asked on the spot to sign a new contract during the tapings for the October 21 edition of SmackDown!.

He wouldn't sign the contract and his last match occured during the tapings for the November 4 edition of SmackDown!, teaming with JBL against Matt Hardy & Rey Mysterio.

Christian also appeared on Monday night's RAW as part of a SmackDown! invasion led by GM Teddy Long. It is also reported that Christian will be present at the RAW production, Taboo Tuesday, and will work if he is selected to compete in the RAW vs. SmackDown! match featured on the card.

Christian debuted in the WWE in September 1998 at the Breakdown pay-per-view in Hamilton, Ontario, where he came out during Edge's match with Owen Hart.

In his first major match in WWE, he won the Light Heavyweight title, defeating Taka Michinoku at Judgment Day.

Known as Jason Reso, the Orangeville, Ontario native is best remembered for his run in the dominant tag team of Edge (fellow hometown friend Adam Copeland) and Christian. Despite being a heel for most of WWE run, he gained a great measure of popularity, especially in Canada for his cocky persona and his humorous promos.
