CYGY’S VIEW: TNA’S MOST WANTED MAN – CHRISTIAN CAGE

By Marcus Cygy
Coming off of Thursday's “iMPACT!” broadcast on Spike TV, one thing became very apparent – Christian Cage is TNA’s most wanted wrestler.

The icon Sting and Olympic gold medalist Kurt Angle fought tooth and nail against one another for the very first time in history to earn the privilege of receiving a shot at the World Heavyweight Championship. However, to no one’s surprise the champion Christian Cage took it upon himself to interfere in the match along with his army of “The Phenomenal” AJ Styles, “Big Poppa Pump” Scott Steiner and Tomko. Together they angered the fans in the stands by disengaging what was about to become stellar match when the bell rang signifying a no-contest draw. Suddenly Sting found himself siding with a now bloody Kurt Angle, who was taking abuse from a steel chair by fending off Cage and his army.

With Kurt Angle left with a potential neck injury, management director Jim Cornette made the lofty decision of giving Sting an immediate title shot against Christian Cage. An infuriated Cage had no other choice but to go forth with these impromptu plans, but going in it wasn’t going to be a guaranteed win for Sting. Kurt Angle, wearing a neckbrace, came down during the bout to exact revenge on Cage. His anger got the best of him, but he also cost Sting his shot at the gold. At the end of the broadcast, Sting was not too happy with Angle’s actions, as he blasted Angle with his baseball bat.

The question now remains at hand – who will Christian Cage be defending the World Heavyweight Title against at “Sacrifice” on May 13, 2007 on Pay-Per-View? Sting had originally earned the title shot at the “Lockdown” Pay-Per-View by getting the pin on Abyss in the Lethal Lockdown Match; however, with Sting already receiving a shot last night, will giving Sting another singles shot at the Pay-Per-View bold well with Kurt Angle, or for the that matter the entire TNA roster in the name of fairness? Certainly Sting will want to get his hands back on Christian Cage as soon as possible, but it’s not a long shot either to say that he wants revenge on Kurt Angle for the troubles he has caused him. Who on the TNA roster gets the next shot? Will it be Sting? Or will it be Kurt Angle? “The Phenomenal” AJ Styles was promised a shot when he joined Team Cage, and it would definitely be in Cage's best interest to give him a shot to keep that great ally at hand happy. But wait, Cage also promised that same title shot to his other partners in Scott Steiner and Tomko too. Jim Cornette definitely has his hands full here.

The success that “The Instant Classic” Christian Cage has reached in TNA Wrestling is attributed to his own determination, but his potential self-destruction as champion can be blamed on his own disdainful tactics that has caused him to become TNA’s most wanted wrestler today.

Tune in this Thursday night on “iMPACT!” on Spike TV for the latest on this controversy surrounding Christian Cage and his World Heavyweight Title defense at the “Sacrifice” Pay-Per-View on Sunday, May 13, 2007.
