Disclaimer: nope, don't own these guys, even thought I'd love to. ~*sigh*~
Not implying anything about them, either. The song I'm using is "There
You'll Be" by Faith Hill, from the soundtrack of the movie 'Pearl Harbor'

The rain fell hard as Adam sat on the front porch of his house, staring out over the yard. A long, low roll of thunder broke the monotonous sound of the falling water, driving a deep feeling of emptiness into his soul.

"Jason..." Adam whispered softly, his voice barely audible over the rain. He knew that Jay was long gone...he was nowhere around to even hear him. But Adam could still feel that familiar feeling in his heart, that peice of Jay that would always be inside of him, no matter what.

WHEN I LOOK BACK ON THESE TIMES
AND THE DREAMS WE LEFT BEHIND
I'LL BE GLAD CAUSE I WAS BLESSED
JUST TO HAVE YOU IN MY LIFE

Ironic, Adam thought as he reached into his pocket and grabbed his keys, walking slowly to his car, letting the rain drench him to the core. The rain was warm, like tears from Heaven. He didn't care that he was getting soaked. The rain made him feel less numb.

Once inside the car, he drove down the old familiar highway toward the destination that he half-dread, half-coveted. Once he reached it, he parked the car and peered through the windshield, watching a streak of lightning zigzag across the sky in the distance, followed by a loud crash of thunder.

WHEN I LOOK BACK ON THESE DAYS
I'LL LOOK AND SEE YOUR FACE
YOU WERE RIGHT THERE FOR ME

He opened the car door, stepping out and slamming it shut. He inhaled deeply, loving the fresh, clean scent of the summer thunderstorm. His eyes zeroed in on a particular spot in the distance, and he felt a tremor of some unknown emotion well up inside.

IN MY DREAMS
I'LL ALWAYS SEE YOUR SOUL ABOVE THE SKY
IN MY HEART THEY'LL ALWAYS BE A PLACE FOR YOU
FOR ALL MY LIFE
I'LL KEEP A PART OF YOU WITH ME
AND EVERYWHERE I AM
THERE YOU'LL BE
AND EVERYWHERE I AM
THERE YOU'LL BE...

The rain started to let up as he crossed the grassy field, littered here and there with grey stones. And that exquisite ache inside of his heart welled up once more, bringing a lump to his throat and tears to his eyes.

There he was. His Jason. His angel.

His saviour. The one who always believed in him, no matter the cost. The one who always showed him the way, the light in his soul brighter than anything that Adam had ever known.

The one who taught him what it was to love, what it was to sacrifice, what it was to give everything and expect nothing in return.

The only one that could make Adam feel.

WELL YOU SHOWED ME HOW IT FEELS
TO FEEL THE SKY WITHIN MY REACH
AND I ALWAYS WILL REMEMBER
ALL THE STRENGTH YOU GAVE TO ME
YOUR LOVE MADE ME MAKE IT THROUGH
OH, I OWE SO MUCH TO YOU
YOU WERE RIGHT THERE FOR ME

Adam kneeled down beside him, his mind taking him back in time to relive some of the most glorious moments he'd ever had.

Jason holding him in his arms, his bright blue eyes shimmering with unconditional love, love that had always been there, even when Adam knew he didn't deserve it.

Adam stroking Jay's silky blonde tresses softly, whispering words of devotion to him as they lay basking in the sweet glow of their lovemaking.

The look in his eyes as Adam held him for the last time. The whispered words, "I'll be with you..forever..." as Jay closed his eyes, leaving Adam's heart feeling both so full and yet so empty, all at the same time.

IN MY DREAMS
I'LL ALWAYS SEE YOU SOAR ABOVE THE SKY
IN MY HEART THERE'LL ALWAYS BE A PLACE FOR YOU
FOR ALL MY LIFE
I'LL KEEP A PART OF YOU WITH ME
AND EVERYWHERE I AM
THERE YOU'LL BE

"I haven't forgotten." Adam whispered to Jason, sitting on the wet grass, not caring that his clothes would probably be ruined. All that mattered was being close to him, near him once more. "You're still here with me."

Adam had always admired Jason's courage, his strength. Even when all hope was lost, Jason still had the will to go on, and he instilled that in Adam also. Right to the very end, Jay had had that light, that heavenly light that seemed to emit from deep within, that allowed Adam to be strong, too. And it was Jason's inner strength that had kept him from falling apart, from giving up.

CAUSE I ALWAYS SAW IN YOU
MY LIGHT, MY STRENGTH
AND I WANT TO THANK YOU NOW
FOR ALL THE WAYS
YOU WERE RIGHT THERE FOR ME
YOU WERE RIGHT THERE FOR ME
FOR ALWAYS....

Closing his eyes, he could feel Jason's arms wrapping around him, comforting him again. Making him feel safe and warm, even through the drenching rain and the crashing thunder all around him.

IN MY DREAMS
I'LL ALWAYS SEE YOUR SOUL ABOVE THE SKY
IN MY HEART THERE'LL ALWAYS BE A PLACE FOR YOU
FOR ALL MY LIFE
I'LL KEEP A PART OF YOU WITH ME
AND EVERYWHERE I AM
THERE YOU'LL BE
AND EVERYWHERE I AM
THERE YOU'LL BE....

Adam opened his eyes once more, feeling a sudden warmth on his skin. Looking up, he saw a small opening in the dark clouds, with a ray of sunshine peeking through the ominous darkness.

Lowering his head, Adam traced the gold lettering on the granite stone. WILLIAM JASON RESO. Over and over he traced it, feeling closer to Jason than he had in a long time.

"You're here with me. I can feel it..." Adam said to him, smiling even though the tears were flowing freely down his face. Nothing, not even that horrible, uncurable cancer could take Jason away from Adam permanently.

THERE YOU'LL BE

He'd be with him forever. No matter what.

The End
