PRESENT DAY
The brothers sat next to each other, it had been 10 years ago, 10 years of their lives apart because of their father. But now they were reunited, together once more, this time it would be forever. No one was going to tear them apart.
As the brothers sat on the wooden park bench, their minds drifted back to the day so long ago when Edge left for good.
Edge lay in his bed listening to his brothers restless sleeping. Christian tossed and turned, trying to get comfortable in his sleep, little Edge slipped out of his bed and crept over to his brothers bed. Before he sat down he re adjusted his wresters PJ's, causing him a great amount of pain across his chest.
He eased himself onto the edge of his brothers bed, by just sitting there Christian seemed to settle himself down a little. Edge looked at his sleeping brother, his shoulder length blond hair, fanned out on his pillow, his face deep in slumber.
The days since the last beating Edge's mind had been racing with one idea, he knew it would hurt his brother and change everyone's life, but he had to do it, he had to get away, escape forever.
With his fingers he gently moved a piece of hair out of his brothers eyes, those eyes so deep in a dream flickered but didn't stir. Edge knew he would miss his brother, but his own pain was to great.
It was almost 4 in the morning before he could muster up enough strength to leave his little brother, the one person he cared about more than anything. At 2am he had almost managed to slip out of the window of their bedroom. But Christian had cried out his name and Edge rushed to his side to comfort him.
The note that had taken so long to write lay on the desk, one last time Edge scanned over the words he had written.
Christian,
"Tomorrow comes with one desire,
to take me way it's true,
it ain't easy to say goodbye
darling please don't start to cry..
Tomorrow comes to take me way,
I wish that I, that I could stay..
Save tonight,
and fight the break of dawn,
Come tomorrow,
Tomorrow I'll be gone.
I love you Christian, I'll see you later.
Edge
The words had come from Save Tonight, a song from that moment onwards Edge would cherish and for eternity would remind him of this fateful night.
As the young boy stood at the window he felt one last urge to see his sleeping brother, his eyes pierced the darkness, making out the sleeping figure. Christian lay peaceful in his bed, it seemed though he didn't have a trouble in the world, he slept still not stirring. Edge prayed his brother stayed like this forever, not a trouble to dare hurt him ever again.
As the boy slipped out of the window into the darkness that filled the night, entering his new life, one that would cause him so much heartache and trouble, he whispered one last goodbye to his brother. The words that echoed though the bedroom, words that would haunt him forever.
"Forgive me little brother"
