Part 14
Matt slipped out of the room as soon as Rob came on the screen. Jeff
was
acting like such an idiot, Matt knew Christian's attention would be
on Jeff.
He went over to Shane's room, using the key card Shane had given him
and
walking in. Shane was going over a list of possible new talents to
bring in,
crossing some names out with a red pen, circling others with blue.
Matt
walked up behind him, wrapping his arms around Shane's waist and
blowing
lightly in his ear.
"Matt, I'm busy. We'll play later."
"Right now, I just need some information."
"What information?"
"Where's Gangrel's room?"
"Why??"
"I have an arrangement I want to work out with him."
"Is this about whatever he's doing to Christian?"
"What do you mean?"
"HOw stupid do you think I am? Anyone with eyes can see that
Christian's
terrified of him. He must be doing something."
"Yeah, he is...I can't tell you what, but there is something. I need
to know
Gangrel's room number, Shane."
"You're not gonna do something stupid, are you?"
"No, I won't. I just wanna know, in case Christian needs me down
there."
"316."
"Gangrel only gets 3rd floor?"
"Yeah...he used to be fourth, but he trashed a room, so he got booted
down."
"Ok, thanks Shane. Let me and Jeff know when you're done working."
"Ok. It'll be a while. Talent lists like this take forever."
"You gonna let in Rob?"
"No...I talked to the owner of ECW, Paul E. Dangerously. He doesn't
wanna
let any of his talent go, unless we pay way more than they're worth.
We
can't afford to overinvest right now."
"Jeff's gonna be crushed."
"I know. He sees the guy at one show, and when he was here he spent
the
whole time explaining to me exactly why he and Rob are meant to be
soulmates. I had an 8x10 of every potential talent, and Jeff kept
bugging me
until I gave him Rob's picture."
Matt chuckled. "I gotta go. See you later, Shane.
"I was just talking to Shane. I don't like seeing matches that
brutal."
"Ok." Christian and Jeff went back to their game, and Matt pulled up
a chair
at the table, watching them. He looked at Christian, the man he'd had
a
crush on for so long...he had changed into his poet's shirt, and his
golden
hair combined with the white shirt made him look like an angel. He
was going
to need that image of Christian to be his guardian angel, to remind
him why
he was doing what he was about to do.
Then he looked at Jeff, concentrating on the game, his tongue just
barely
sticking out to touch the skin above his top lip as he contemplated.
Jeff
was gonna be the one to suffer most through this, but Jeff was
strong, and
Matt knew he could handle it.
The question was, could Matt?
