Sami Zayn Mentions Christian In Recent Interview With The National

In a recent interview with The National, current NXT Champion Sami Zayn was asked who he would like to feud with in the future. Here’s what he had to say about Christian:

Finally, looking at the current WWE roster, who would be your dream opponent if you could pick anyone for a one-on-one match?

I guess it depends on the stage because a lot of the guys I really want to wrestle with again are guys I have already wrestled with like Daniel Bryan, Seth Rollins and Cesaro. These are just some of the guys I think are the best period.

So even though I have wrestled them before, to wrestle them on a grander stage in the WWE would obviously mean a lot. Even Adrian Neville, a guy I have wrestled countless times now, to be able to him to wrestle him in the WWE in say a WrestleMania match or something like that would obviously be a whole another level.

I guess if there are guys I would like to wrestle before they call it a day Christian would be one, although I do not know what his status is. Rey Mysterio is another, though again I do not know what his status is. But those are a couple of guys I would love to get in the ring with before they call it a day.

Obviously there is just so much talent up there. Cena is the top guy. You want to be in the ring with John Cena. Randy Orton. An amazing performer. I would love to get in the ring with him. Dolph Ziggler too. There is just so much talent up there now, that pretty much anyone you could work with would give you a pretty good match.

WWE.com: WWE’s Top 25 Matches Of 2014

#22. Dolph Ziggler vs. Sheamus vs. Christian vs. Alberto Del Rio — Intercontinental Championship No. 1 Contender’s Fatal 4-Way Match (Raw, March 24)

A mad, forgotten classic among the high-profile matches of 2014, this four-pronged brawl for the right to battle Big E for the Intercontinental Championship is notable for a bittersweet reason: It was Christian’s last match in 2014 and, as of this writing, his last televised match, period. The frenetic bout encapsulates exactly what makes the former World Heavyweight Champion such a seminal WWE talent — his savvy, his chicanery, and his personality are all on display — but the other three didn’t look too shabby, either. Sheamus and Del Rio picked up right where their 2012 mega-rivalry left off, and Dolph Ziggler foreshadowed his late-year renaissance with a Zig Zag to a Cross Armbreaker–locked Sheamus, which took out both guys at once. Of course, it’s Christian who immediately hooked the Killswitch for the win, but nobody came out of this looking like a chump. If Captain Charisma is truly denied his “One More Match,” there are worse ways to go out. — ANTHONY BENIGNO

How To Get A ‘Haven’ Job: In WWE Wrestler Jay Reso’s Case, Be BFFs With Adam Copeland

Let’s face it, whoever your best friend, he/she is cool. That’s why they’re your best friend. But it’s the rare friend who’s been your bestie since sixth grade and who ends up being your championship partner in crime in the WWE before bringing you onto his television show.

And yet that is exactly how things are working out for Jason “Jay” Reso, who begins guest-starring duties on “Haven” Friday (Dec. 5) on Syfy. The 41-year-old professional wrestler better known as Christian grew up with “Haven” regular Adam Copeland (Chief of Police, Dwight Hendrickson) before they both decided to become professional wrestlers. (Copeland is better known by his WWE moniker, Edge.) In fact, the pair won the tag team championships seven times with the then WWF.

Fast forward a few years and Copeland is now a fan favorite on “Haven,” so producers thought it made sense to bring aboard his real life friend.

“With ‘Haven’ airing on Syfy in the U.S. as the same night as ‘WWE Smackdown,’ there was a real tie-in there for the fan base,” Reso tells Zap2it. “Plus, with Adam and I being one of the most celebrated tag teams in the WWE, we have this dynamic when we’re together, I think they thought it would translate well. We’re like brothers.”

Miami Herald Interviews Christian On Haven Appearance

WWE SUPERSTAR CHRISTIAN TO TEAM AGAIN WITH WWE HALL OF FAMER EDGE ON ‘HAVEN’ ON SYFY

Growing up together near Toronto, Adam Copeland and Jay Reso dreamed of WWE superstardom. The dream became reality with the birth of Edge & Christian.

After Edge retired from the ring on April 15, 2011, the ultra-talented WWE standouts have not spent much time together — until recently. From sports entertainment success to another discipline of entertainment, Christian reunited with his lifelong friend for a recurring guest arc on Syfy’s fan-favorite series, “Haven,” which airs 7 p.m. EST Fridays.

Edge, 41, who debuted on “Haven” in 2011, is an integral part of the Season 5 cast for this American/Canadian supernatural drama series, based on the Stephen King novel The Colorado Kid (2005).

“Everybody knows I’ve been best friends with Edge, Adam Copeland, who’s been on ‘Haven’ the past four seasons,” Christian said. “His character has become more of a focal point on [Haven], especially this season, and I think the producers just saw the dynamic that Edge and I had. They knew the back story of us growing up together and obviously coming to WWE together. The chemistry that we had in the ring and the dynamic that we had there they thought could carry over and be kind of a cool thing to see in the ‘Haven’ series as well.

“They approached him [Edge] and asked his thoughts on it. Of course, he loved the idea; so they get in contact with me, and I thought it was a great opportunity, something fun to do and a new challenge. I jumped all over it.”

Christian, 40, will appear in an all-new episode of ‘Haven’ airing Friday, Nov. 28. He will reprise his role for two additional episodes in 2015.

WWE.com: Superstars Pick Survivor Series Dream Teams – 2014 Edition

null

Roman Reigns

“My first pick would be my man, Dean Ambrose,” Roman Reigns said without hesitation. “We have a huge amount of chemistry and I like his element of surprise. You just don’t know what to expect with him. That would really give our team an advantage in that respect.”

The former Shield powerhouse showed his affinity for maintaining strong allies with his next picks.

“I would go with a tag team situation here, because it’s all about teamwork,” he explained. “And you can’t go wrong with these guys: Edge and Christian. Both of them bring their own strengths to the table. Obviously, Edge also utilizes the Spear, which would be cool with both of us in the ring at the same time.”

For his last pick — The Undertaker — Reigns went with a true legend.

“We need a big man — a really big man,” he said. “A skyscraper, someone with that ‘it’ factor, with that demeanor, and with all his experience, he serves as a huge cornerstone for this group. If there’s any aspect in a situation the other four haven’t been in, I guarantee he would be able to step up and have some knowledge.”

WWE.com: The 100 Best Matches To See Before You Die

#86. Christian vs. Randy Orton – World Heavyweight Championship No Holds Barred Match (Summerslam 2011)

I wouldn’t have necessarily predicted beforehand that Orton and Christian would have been so great together. A lot of people loved Christian and had been waiting for him to have that moment in the main event, and he turned out to physically be the perfect match for Randy Orton. It’s one of those magic things where it’s hard to point out why it worked so well.”The rivalry was thought of so highly in spite of the fact that Orton was a hero. When people talk about Randy Orton, it’s usually not as a hero, but he was perfect for the kind of opportunistic scoundrel villain that Christian was. You really wanted to see Christian get his comeuppance and people were really excited to root for Randy Orton against a guy fans were traditionally used to cheering. Each of their matches had meaning.”What they do in the ring is so good, it doesn’t even matter how their rivalry got started. You can watch it as a standalone amazing match and see it unfold. That’s the tell-tale sign of two guys who know what they’re doing. Christian’s been around a long time and Randy Orton’s a third-generation Superstar who is so natural. They executed it like two veterans do. — PETER ROSENBERG, AS TOLD TO ZACH LINDER

Adam ‘Edge’ Copeland Mentions Christian In Recent Interview With Alternative Nation

In a recent interview with Alternative Nation, WWE Hall of Famer and one of the current stars of SyFy’s Haven, Adam ‘Edge’ Copeland discussed several topics, including his love of alternative rock bands, if he’ll ever return to the WWE, what he thinks about WWE’s Attitude Era as well as Christian’s future and working with him on Haven. You can check out the full interview here, here’s what he had to say about Christian:

You mentioned Christian being on Haven. How was it working with him again, and do you see acting as something he could do, as his career is in an interesting position right now with injury issues and not having wrestled in awhile. But how was it seeing Christian, and what do you think about his future?

Well he’s my best friend, so I know what’s going on with him more than anybody else. But he’s at that kind of point where you sit back and look and go, okay I’m definitely closer to the end of my career than the beginning. After awhile your body just starts telling you, this is a difficult job to do. When you’re in your 20’s and you think you’re indestructible, you can bounce back, but it gets harder when you start climbing into your 40’s.

He came out here, the executive producers of Haven were like, ‘Hey, what’s Christian doing?’ ‘Right now he just had a baby girl, same as us, we’re just kind of talking about that, but he’s just being a Dad.’ They asked if he’d be interested in coming out, I floated it by him, and he said, ‘Yeah, that’d be great. It’d be fun to have the girls see us in a different kind of arena of entertainment than wearing tights and throwing each other around. It would be fun to show them us acting together someday.’ So he got out here, and we hadn’t seen each other in almost a year, so it was nice to be able to sit down and not just talk over the phone or over Facetime, but to actually just get caught up, more than anything else.

WWE.com: Superstars’ Most Underrated Matches

Sheamus vs. Christian – Memphis Street Fight (Raw, March 10, 2014)

“I think one of my favorite matches was the Memphis Street Fight with Christian earlier this year when I was coming back from injury. When he had the drum and I Brogue Kicked him through the drum, that was a really great moment. I only wish we could have had that match at WrestleMania; a New Orleans Street Fight would’ve been good. He’s one of the most fun competitors to be in the ring with. Keeps you on your toes, very creative, and very, very underrated in my opinion. He’s never had a bad match… and he’s a great entertainer, too. He’s achieved a lot in his career, so it’s hard to say [Christian is underrated], but I think he’s as good as Edge.” – SHEAMUS
