WWE.com: The New Day To Appear On ‘The Cutting Edge Peep Show’

Whether you reek of awesomeness or proudly raise the unicorn horn, WWE Fastlane has you covered this Sunday when Edge & Christian welcome WWE Tag Team Champions The New Day as guests on “The Cutting Edge Peep Show.”

The outspoken WWE Tag Team Champions crossed paths with Edge & Christian, one of the most audacious and decorated teams in WWE history, last September on Raw. The end result was a memorable, if brief, musical showdown between Xavier Woods’ trombone and Christian’s kazoo. Might the WWE Universe be in store for an encore battle this Sunday?

Watch the absurdity unfold at WWE Fastlane, live this Sunday at 8 ET/5 PT on WWE Network. Then stay tuned to watch the series debut of The Edge and Christian Show That Totally Reeks of Awesomeness, immediately following WWE Fastlane.

Edge Mentions Christian and Their Upcoming WWE Network Show In Recent Interview With Slam! Sports

In a recent interview with Slam! Sports, Christian’s best friend and former tag team partner Adam ‘Edge’ Copeland talked about a range of topics including his acting career and even the upcoming WWE Network show Edge & Christian’s Show That Totally Reeks of Awesomeness. Here’s what he had to say about the show:

Upcoming is a return to the world of WWE — Edge and Christian’s Show That Totally Reeks of Awesomeness, set to debut soon on the WWE Network.

“Eventually they talked me into it,” laughed Copeland, explaining that he wasn’t exactly reluctant, but unlike his buddy, Christian (Jay Reso), he’s not under a WWE deal. “He’s still under contract, but I’m not. I think the sell job had to be to me.”

The show does reek of awesome unpredictability.

“They’ve given us a lot of range to just start writing stuff and come up with a lot of weird things. So far, nobody seems to be batting an eyelash,” he said. “We’ll see once it airs if we still have that kind of freedom. As of right now, it’s just been fun. It was a nice little dip of the toes back in after the surgery to do something creative again.”

The duo will be taping segments WrestleMania weekend.

“I haven’t been in a few years, since they inducted me, actually, just because I was always doing something,” he said. “This year, I think we’re going to try and go out and do some filming for our show, and just get it all in one fell swoop, get some filming done with current guys that are on the roster, because you don’t want to ask them to fly up to New York on a day off.”

WWE: The 10 Best TLC Matches In WWE History

#5. Edge & Christian vs. The Dudley Boyz vs. The Hardyz (SummerSlam 2000)

The inaugural Tables, Ladders and Chairs Match was initially reserved strictly for tag team competition. As the first bout of its kind, the concept was more than well-suited to the three duos battling it out at The Biggest Party of the Summer. At this point in time, The Hardy Boyz, The Dudley Boyz and Edge & Christian were the three premier tag teams in sports-entertainment. The high-flying abilities of Matt & Jeff Hardy made ladders their forte, D-Von & Bubba Ray Dudley’s use of tables was their trademark, and Edge & Christian weren’t shy about offering their opponents a solid Con-Chair-To.

And with that, the TLC Match was born, the World Tag Team Championship was at stake and the three fearless duos changed sports-entertainment forever. Never before — even in the Dudleys’ former extreme stomping ground — had such a chaotic contest taken place. Ladders tipped over, sending already-chair-battered bodies crashing inside and outside the squared circle. When all was said and done, the WWE Universe’s collective breath was gone, and champions Edge & Christian retained the titles. Though The Rock faced Triple H and Kurt Angle for the WWE Championship later that August evening, the history-rattling TLC Match stole the show.

#1. Edge & Christian vs. The Dudley Boyz vs. The Hardyz (WrestleMania X-Seven)

In the weeks leading up to April 1, 2001, The Dudley Boyz were World Tag Team Champions, with archrivals The Hardy Boyz and Edge & Christian hot on their tail. After the trio’s high-risk battle at SummerSlam 2000, the only way the three teams could truly settle the score was to meet in a second TLC Match … this time on The Grandest Stage of Them All, which emanated from Houston’s Astrodome.

There could be no possible way for the three daring duos to top their innovative performances in the inaugural TLC Match, right? Not so fast — the second TLC Match is widely regarded by the WWE Universe as the best ever. The stakes were the same, but the stage was much bigger — which, of course, meant more tables and chairs, and much taller ladders.

The second TLC Match surpassed the original in terms of the sheer bedlam that ensued. Jeff Hardy created an unforgettable WrestleMania moment when he hit Rhyno and Spike Dudley — interfering on behalf of Edge & Christian and The Dudley Boyz, respectively — with a diving Swanton Bomb through two tables off a 16-foot-high ladder.

Amazingly, that incredible moment was overshadowed a short time later by Edge. As the battle raged above the squared circle, Jeff Hardy dangled from the hook securing the World Tag Team Titles. The Rated-R Superstar quickly ascended a ladder and Speared Hardy to the mat below. The unbelievable maneuver not only forever defined the TLC Match, but also ultimately helped Edge & Christian recapture the championships.

WWE.com: The 50 Greatest WWE Entrance Themes Ever

#36. Christian — “At Last”

Christian learned early that he would need to make a big statement if he ever hoped to step out of the shadow of Edge. After cutting ties with his longtime friend in 2001, he introduced an entrance theme to define him as a singular Superstar. To hammer home the point, the Canadian competitor employed a choir in his signature song to proclaim, “At last, you’re on your own!”

The tune shifts suddenly to heavy metal riffs, reminding the WWE Universe to take Christian seriously. Yet, the song leaves a haunting final impression when a maniacal opera singer screams, “Il mondo è mio!” — an Italian credo that translates to “The world is mine!” and fit Christian perfectly. — MATTHEW ARTUS

#9. The Brood — “Blood”

With their affinity for pirate shirts and a stylized entrance that saw the trio rise up through a ring of fire as if they’d just taken an elevator from hell, Edge, Christian and Gangrel brought a gothic cool to WWE at a time when Hot Topic stores still seemed kinda dangerous. But it was the trio’s theme — with its lurching church organ and moaning wah-wah guitars — that pulled the whole thing together. Stalking to the ring in time with the music, the creeping Brood in red-stained clothing nearly convinced audiences that “Blood” was the last thing they’d ever hear. — RYAN MURPHY

#4. (tied): Edge & Christian (7-time titleholders)

For those with the benefit of flash photography, picture this: Only two pairs of partners can boast about having achieved seven World Tag Team Championship reigns in WWE. And the first twosome to do it just happens to hail from Toronto, Canada.

Edge & Christian solely plied their trade in the competitive confines of WWE, which means everybody in the WWE Universe got a good look as the Canuck competitors transformed themselves from Gangrel’s lackeys into one of the greatest tag teams of all time. They went through everybody to win the World Tag Team Titles, from longtime rivals like The Dudley Boyz and The Hardy Boyz, to lethal combinations like The Rock & The Undertaker.

Moreover, their victory in the Tables, Ladders & Chairs Match at WrestleMania X-Seven made them the first WWE duo to earn seven separate reigns in WWE as World Tag Team Champions.

Christian — Over The Limit 2012

It had been a long road since Christian when Captain Charisma made his special event return at Over the Limit 2012. And though the former World Heavyweight Champion didn’t exactly get “One More Match” for WWE’s biggest prize, he did get two matches in one night — and a title to boot. In Christian’s first rumble of the evening, he won a Battle Royal to earn either an opportunity at Cody Rhodes’ Intercontinental Championship or Santino Marella’s U.S. Title. Given his villainous bona fides at the time, Christian was expected to put the boots to The Italian Stallion, so imagine everyone’s surprise when he set his eyes on The Prince instead, ultimately winning the pearly-white title when all was said and done.

Tyson Kidd & Cesaro vs. Edge & Christian – Ladder Match

Tyson Kidd & Cesaro weren’t together long before capturing their first WWE Tag Team Championship, but they quickly found chemistry together. Kidd felt so confident about his bond with Cesaro that he said he’d love to line up against a team that has been together since elementary school: Edge & Christian. Kidd isn’t intimidated by his fellow countrymen.

“We would aim to take on Edge & Christian in a Ladder Match because they were the guys who really popularized tag team matches with a ladder,” Kidd said. “It would be a hell of a test for us to go in there with them in that type of match.”

Jack Swagger Mentions Christian In Recent Interview With MTV UK

In a recent interview with MTV UK, Jack Swagger was about Christian and if he is set to return to the WWE. Here’s what he had to say:

We recently sat down with the ‘We, The People’ star to catch up on a few bits and got talking about Christian – one his first opponents when he made it to WWE’s version of ECW – his manager Zeb Colter and what it feels like to be smashed around by a couple of his former tag team partner’s signature moves.

He told us that both Christian and Zeb, not seen on WWE TV for some time, are set to return at any time.

“He’s a little busy… counting his money, I guess,” Jack joked about veteran star Christian.

“Christian is one of the most intense competitors I’ve ever been in the ring with. He’s still very much around. He lives down the street from me… he’s not going anywhere.

“He will be back, jumping through your television or computer screen very soon.”

WWE.com: The Top 30 Matches In Wrestlemania History

#27. Money in the Bank Ladder Match – Wrestlemania 21

Ladder Matches on The Grandest Stage of Them All tend to be great – no surprise there’s a bevy of them on this list – so the inaugural Money in the Bank Ladder Match, with its novel, game changing stipulation and can’t miss lineup of topflight athletes, Evel Knievels and a real-life monster, was bound to be excellent.

The second bout at WrestleMania 21 played out like a Michael Bay trailer with guys like Christian and Kane taking the place of exploding robots. Fifteen minutes of gratuitous carnage led to Edge coming out on top – setting in motion what would become a defining run as a villain – but it was Shelton Benjamin who stole the show (and defied physics) by running up a diagonal ladder to deliver a diving clothesline to Jericho. This was car crash wrestling at its most polished. No wonder it spawned so many sequels.
