WWE.com: Captain Comeback

Christian Talks MITB And His Comeback

It didn’t take Christian long to complete his comeback. After being away from WWE for more than three years, Captain Charisma returned in February and, one month later, is ready to make waves at the 25th Anniversary of WrestleMania.

On March 10, the ECW Superstar won a Tri-Branded 16-Man Battle Royal to qualify for the Money in the Bank Ladder Match where he will compete with seven other participants to earn the championship opportunity of his choosing.

“I’ve been in so many Ladder Matches, it feels like second nature to me,” Christian told WWE.com. “I feel like I’m one of the guys who put this match on the map.”

The returning Superstar quite literally helped to make the contest what it is, taking part in the first-ever Money in the Bank Ladder Match at WrestleMania 21. For most of his career, ladders have been a specialty of his, helping Christian to gain notoriety as a fearless personality when it comes to this type of stipulation. In fact, Christian obtained his first-ever WWE Tag Team Championship along with Edge by winning a Triple Threat Ladder Match at WrestleMania 2000.

Slam! Sports: Christian Reborn Back In WWE

SOURCE: Jay Reso got away from WWE to regenerate himself mentally and physically. Eight years on the road had worn on him.

A reduced schedule with TNA, which operates out of Orlando, near his Tampa home, gave him what he needed. But it also drove the star we know as Christian back to WWE, where he has already won a spot in Wrestlemania’s Money in the Bank match.

“I’d been away for three-plus years,” says Christian. “(Returning) was nothing personal (against TNA). I had a chance to re-evaluate the things I wanted in life. I didn’t think my job was done in WWE. I felt if I wanted to be on top, WWE’s where I had to be. I had some unfinished business here.”

He was excited to re-debut on ECW, working his way into a program with Jack Swagger.

“Standing behind the curtain before I stepped out, I was feeling nervous, yet comfortable at the same time. There had been speculation about certain things, but I don’t think anybody expected me to show up on ECW. It’s a good place to get my feet wet.

Jerry Lynn Mentions Christian

There is a revealing interview with Jerry Lynn at submissionradio.com.au where he talks about his time in TNA. He said towards the end of his tenure Christian was especially unhappy due to politicking behind the scenes. He said there are a number of wrestlers with the company that are unhappy with the direction of the company right now, but they are sticking it out because there is no where else for them to go.

TNA Star Questions Christian’s Jump To WWE

Team 3D appeared on the Orlando-based Between the Ropes radio show this past week hyping a free show featuring students from their wrestling academy on Saturday. During the interview, Brother Ray was asked about Christian’s jump to WWE.

“Christian is a hell of a talented person,” Brother Ray said. “I just don’t think that TNA was the right place for him, and quite honestly, I don’t think that going back to WWE is the right fit for him either. I hope he’s happy with whatever he does. I hope he makes a lot of money. I hope all goes well for him.”

TNA President Confirms Christian’s WWE Return

The departure of Christian Cage was the worst kept secret in wrestling, and Carter says she’s sorry to lose the services of the Canadian.

“I’m very disappointed. I like him as a person as well as a talent. It’s interesting, he was the first big name to jump ship to us and he’s been the first to jump back. I wish him all the best.”
