Edge Talks About Working With Christian Again

In an interview with Baltimore Sun, Edge said that toning down his style helped him move up the card. “Well, you definitely have to. I honestly think that’s part of the reason why I got higher on the card. That’s one of the things that I was told right from the beginning. I remember Steve Austin saying, ‘Yeah, you have to pick and choose. You have to be careful.’ And I just thought I was indestructible. So that’s why at No Mercy you would have Edge and Christian against The Hardys just trying to break every boundary that hadn’t been broken yet. But looking back and feeling it when I wake up in the morning, I get it, I understand it. And I really started to understand it once I started garnering more of a reaction from the stuff that I’m doing now as opposed to trying to flip and fly everywhere.”

He also commented on his character crossing paths with Christian. “I’m hoping they do,” he said. “I think at some point they have to. I think the audience wants to see it. I always said it’d be cool whenever the day is that one of us or both us of retired to kind of do a little reunion tour before we did. Just because we grew up together and we have been best friends for 25 years, so it would just be a lot of fun to do. It’s been awesome having him back because we ride together again. And we’re just a couple of idiots, so it’s a lot of fun to travel and ride the roads with your best friend.”

Christian Talks MITB And His Comeback

It didn’t take Christian long to complete his comeback. After being away from WWE for more than three years, Captain Charisma returned in February and, one month later, is ready to make waves at the 25th Anniversary of WrestleMania.

On March 10, the ECW Superstar won a Tri-Branded 16-Man Battle Royal to qualify for the Money in the Bank Ladder Match where he will compete with seven other participants to earn the championship opportunity of his choosing.

“I’ve been in so many Ladder Matches, it feels like second nature to me,” Christian told WWE.com. “I feel like I’m one of the guys who put this match on the map.”

The returning Superstar quite literally helped to make the contest what it is, taking part in the first-ever Money in the Bank Ladder Match at WrestleMania 21. For most of his career, ladders have been a specialty of his, helping Christian to gain notoriety as a fearless personality when it comes to this type of stipulation. In fact, Christian obtained his first-ever WWE Tag Team Championship along with Edge by winning a Triple Threat Ladder Match at WrestleMania 2000.

Slam! Sports: Christian Reborn Back In WWE

SOURCE: Jay Reso got away from WWE to regenerate himself mentally and physically. Eight years on the road had worn on him.

A reduced schedule with TNA, which operates out of Orlando, near his Tampa home, gave him what he needed. But it also drove the star we know as Christian back to WWE, where he has already won a spot in Wrestlemania’s Money in the Bank match.

“I’d been away for three-plus years,” says Christian. “(Returning) was nothing personal (against TNA). I had a chance to re-evaluate the things I wanted in life. I didn’t think my job was done in WWE. I felt if I wanted to be on top, WWE’s where I had to be. I had some unfinished business here.”

He was excited to re-debut on ECW, working his way into a program with Jack Swagger.

“Standing behind the curtain before I stepped out, I was feeling nervous, yet comfortable at the same time. There had been speculation about certain things, but I don’t think anybody expected me to show up on ECW. It’s a good place to get my feet wet.

“Christian is a hell of a talented person,” Brother Ray said. “I just don’t think that TNA was the right place for him, and quite honestly, I don’t think that going back to WWE is the right fit for him either. I hope he’s happy with whatever he does. I hope he makes a lot of money. I hope all goes well for him.”

The departure of Christian Cage was the worst kept secret in wrestling, and Carter says she’s sorry to lose the services of the Canadian.

“I’m very disappointed. I like him as a person as well as a talent. It’s interesting, he was the first big name to jump ship to us and he’s been the first to jump back. I wish him all the best.”
